A Naval Biographical Dictionary 1849

The author of this book, William R O'Byrne, published in 1849, took it upon himself to contact the families of every Naval officer mentioned in the "Navy List" for 1845. From the information gained from the families and from the Admiralty he has produced what he has described as "The Life and Service of Every Living Officer in Her Majesty's Navy". The author, although in no way connected to the Navy, spent six years researching the material to produce this volume that contains almost 1400 pages of detailed information. This rare book has been reproduced on CD-ROM to enable this wealth of information to be accessible to the historian and genealogist alike.
