The fighting spirit of the people during World War ll has never been denied. From the home front line they kept smiling through - with a little help from the stars in battle dress.

Arthur Askey, Jack Warner, Gert & daisey, Max wall, Tommy Trinder and George Formby all lent a hand, each bringing their individual brand of humour to the war effort.

New songs and old favourites sung by Gracies Fields, Beryl Davis, Syd Walker and Bernie Clifton all helped to raise morale. While an army of unsung amateur performances enlisted by ENSA entertained their hearts out for the troops, the public and the spirit of the nation.
