London History

This section contains early guides to London which give a nostalgic glimpse of a world of 5 shillings-a-night temperance hotels and 19th Century Playbills from London Theatres.

 

The Image to the left is from 19th Century Playbills volume 1. An 1849 playbill for Astley's Royal Amphitheatre, advertising Performing Elepants, and a Train of Camels.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Portsmouth History

There are over thirty CD-ROM's in this section containing over twenty thousand digital images taken from residential directories, street directories, commercial and trade directories, early guides and histories, newspapers, photographs, picture postcard etc... spanning the period between the 1775 and 1920. Portsmouth also appears often in the Naval History and the Royal Marines History titles.


Southampton History CD-ROM's

There is curently only one CD-ROM in this section that is specific to Southampton, however it does contain nearly nine hundred pages of history. Southampton also appears in the Portsmouth Telegraph of 1801 and in Berkshire and The War.
