In 1830 King George IV introduced a new and improved scale of victualling for his navy. The daily quantity of provisions allowed to every person serving in His Majesty's ships was one pound of bread, one gallon of beer, one ounce of cocoa, one and half ounce of sugar, one pound of fresh meat, half pound of vegetables, and a quarter of an ounce of tea. This appears quite generous, however when fresh meat and vegetables were not available salt beef and flour, and salt pork and pease were substituted. This image is the Victualling Regulations from the Admiralty Office, July 1824 and can be found in The Navy List July 1830, (please note that the image shown is of lower resolution and quality than the image on the CD-ROM)
