Auction, East Cowes 1801, the cargo of the Hamburgh ship Immanuel Back in 1801 auctions were held at Taverns and Inns where captured ships and their cargo were sold. On 19th of February 1801 an aution was held at East Cowes, goods condemmed as Prize to the Private Ship of War, Resolution, commanded by William La Lacheur were sold. Being the cargo of the Hamburgh ship Immanuel, captured on her voyage from Bordeaux to St. Domingo.
The French wine, brandy, vinegar, fruits in brandy, oil, liquers, olives, tallow candles, almonds, corks, canvas, coardse linens, dowlas, woolen clothes, threads stockings, empty bags, wood hoops, casks, and nails were for sale for export only. The barrels of flour, and barrels of butter were for sale for home consumption.
