French corvete Huron captured by His Majesty's Ship Magicienne, 1801 The image shows the contents of letter from Captain Ogilvy, of His Majesty's Ship Magicienne, giving his account of the capture of the Huron French corvette, from the Isle of France, bound to Bordeaux on January 20th, 1801. She was pierced for twenty guns, had eighteen mounted, but threw them all overboard except four during the chase. Her cargo consisted of ivory, cochineal, indigo, tea, sugar, pepper, cinnamon and ebony.
