The French refused to clothe their fellow-country Prisoners of War in England,1801 It was reported on January 17th 1801 that The French Republic refused to clothe their fellow-country Prisoners of War in England. Our Government has directed they should be clothed at the public expense, to be provided for by the Imperial Parliament. By the time this article was printed clothing had already arrived at Portchester Castle for use by the French Prisoners. This is one of many interesting articles relating to Naval History, and the capture of foreign vessels that can be found inĀ  The Portsmouth Telegraph, or Naval and Military Journal 1801 Volume 1 CD-ROM, please note that the image shown is of lower resolution and quality than the image on the CD-ROM.
